How it works
Different file formats fit different jobs. WebP gives the smallest file for the web and is supported by every current browser, JPG remains the safest choice for email and print shops, and PNG is the one that keeps transparency and pixel-exact detail. This converter reads PNG, JPG and WebP and writes whichever of the three you pick. For JPG and WebP a quality slider controls the trade-off between file size and visible detail: 80 to 90 percent is usually indistinguishable from the original at a fraction of the size, while 30 to 50 percent is useful for thumbnails. You can also cap the longest side at 2000, 1280 or 800 pixels, which is often the biggest saving of all. The tool shows the source and result sizes side by side so you can see what the settings actually cost. Everything is processed in your browser with the canvas API — no file is uploaded, and no account is needed.
